Wear resistance is the biggest disadvantage of titanium metal, and it is easy to produce flax surface and other defects.Titanium surface treatment methods include chromium plating, wet Ni plating, sputtering, surfacing, thermal diffusion, etc. In addition, more advanced surface strengthening methods such as CVD, PVD, PVCD, etc.
1. Wet plating is an effective method for wear-resistant surface treatment. First Ni is plated, then Cr is plated. Electrolytic film forming is fast and several microns thick.
2. Sputtering method is to spray droplets of molten metal on the surface of treated materials by using high-speed air jet of plasma flow, without vacuum and with high efficiency.
3. Surfacing method is to harden the surface of titanium by plasma transfer arc so as to have wear resistance. It is suitable for treating large and thick workpieces. The method is simple and does not need to be exposed at high temperature to prevent mechanical properties from declining.
4. The thermal diffusion method is mainly used for the hardening treatment of iron and steel materials such as carburizing, nitriding, boriding and other thermal diffusion processes. Ionic nitriding is different from gas nitriding. Ionic nitriding uses glow discharge plasma to destroy the oxide film on titanium surface with high efficiency. In recent years, it has been used for titanium, with temperature reaching 850 degrees Celsius, nitriding film thickness increasing from 0.7 micron to 5.0 micron, surface hardness reaching 1200-1600 Hv, and good wear resistance.
